a little sharing

Just came back from church after seeing the youths off to camp, not just la . . .about 2 and half hours ago to be exact and received word that they have reached the destination safe and sound. . . thank God for journey mercy. To those at the camp, may your hunger for God never cease and that this hunger multiply as you mature and feed this hunger to the lost.

I was asked by blog owner if I could write something in his absence and as usual did not dare promise as I am a person of few words. So here I am making a grreaaaat effort. . .what can I write/share?. . . I was thinking through the happenings in my quiet life these few days and maybe will try share a little testimony. A testimony of how good our God is.

I often feel that testimonies must be impressive, must be huge as in WOW!!! . . . and I make this HUGE mistake often . . . my testimony not powerful enough to impact people’s life, so no need la, no need to testify or share. This is so silly of course because God does not need my help to promote His Greatness. He just need me to communicate to others how much He is alive in my life and leave the rest to Him.

Here goes the little testimony: I needed to drop by a pharmacy which i frequent and parking is impossible during the day unless i double parked which i would rather not. (I have something to share or educate about double parking, . . after this testimony ya!). As I was turning the corner I prayed, “Father please supply a parking space, thank You Father, Amen”. And Lo and Behold (this expression is one of my pastor’s favorite) I quickly thank God, there was a space just two shops away from the pharmacy entrance and since it’s a side lot so I needed to reverse park.

I engaged my gear to reverse and started moving slowly and suddenly. . .a car came round the corner and stuck its front into the space with the ‘backside’ of her car sticking out!! (obviously she could not park properly without reversing in). Of course I braked and stared at the lady who came out of her car looked at me and went straight into a sanitary shop. I could not believe my eyes nor could i believe that people (some more a lady wor) would do such a thing (am i too ignorant??), in fact I was shocked and stared at her until she disappeared into the shop. Its like the lady was telling me when she looked back, “you can stare all you want, i ain’t moving my car”.

I was indeed upset, but God is indeed good!!… He provided another space a little further in front and some more shaded one when a car pulled out. Those staying in Kota Kemuning know how tough it is getting a parking space during the office hours around the shop lots opposite the lake. God not only answered my prayer once, He did it TWICE!!! Thank You Father for your providence again and again.

Now the double parking thing. . .this happened in SS15 (Subang Jaya) shop lots area, the stretch between Maybank and Public Bank. I parked I think less than 10 minutes and found a car double parked when I needed to move off. So I did the usual, honking and looking at any one that would wave an apology, to my dismay no one appeared to claim the car. The shop personnel where my car was parked right in front, told me that I need to hold my horn down, but being the introvert I am, so malu and could not bring myself to do that so the normal honk honk honk continued (doing the honk honk thing already so embarassed la how to hold the horn down). I was stuck for about 40 minutes and it was sooooooooo hot in the afternoon and my blood was like beginning to boil though every few minutes I disappear into my car to cool down.

I cant remember what prompted me to look at the dashboard of the double parked car. . .there was a name card and i proceeded to dial the number. “Hello, is your car this and this and so on number?” “Yes, I blocking your car is it?, ok I am coming out now”, that was the response. A man appeared from Public Bank, just about 3 shop lots away from where I parked. I asked the car owner why didnt he come out when I honked for the last 40 minutes, without a word of apology he replied, you should have called me earlier” (what happened to if you double parked you must be on the look out or be alert for anyone honking?).

I was like boiling mad and to this day I still do not know where my calmness came from (my guess it must be from my Father in Heaven) when I stood there and asked him, “you double parked. . . I honked. . . and I bodoh because I didnt know I was supposed to call you. . . from the name card you left on your dashboard . . . to kindly move your double parked car.” “So its my fault that I didnt know the present trend of double parking!” With that I got into my car and waited for him to move his DOUBLE PARKED car out of the way.

That incident was about a year ago, so fellow drivers if ever your car is blocked by a double parked car, please please take a look at the dashboard for a name card and number to call. Otherwise, you will be just like me, bodoh and get myself worked up and ended up being my fault too for not being trendy enough where double parking is concerned!!. . .as I mentioned that was about a year ago, now got new trend ah? Anyone . . . got or not?. . .educate us/me please.

    Another wonderful post sister Nancy!

I hate people who double park. Sometimes I would bypass open car park spaces if that area is prone to double parking.

Once I saw a car owner got so mad, he just reversed his car into the double parked car, and push it to the middle of the road!

How I wish I had the guts to do things like that.

    Hi Adino!

I wouldn’t dare do that too
    … no.1 no guts, heeheehe
… no.2 must spend money to repair my car (pocket painful la)
… no.3 will get into trouble with the law or not?

At that moment i just felt so stupid and i wondered if that happened to a guy or that guy you mentioned, the man that double-parked would be in real trouble.

I think it will be handy to have the MPSJ phone number and have them tow away double-parked cars whose owner doesn’t appear when we honked. Is that too cruel…?

    Hi Sister Nancy,

I’ve been through that quite some times in few years back. I’m being introvert just like you even until today. I don’t think I could ever honk anyone that double parked. I would just wait.

Even if my friend got so offended I just told him to be patient. I’m not a patient person. I don’t know how and where on earth this calmness came from too. I didn’t get angry at all.

But it’s too brave for you to say those things to the double parked drive? Applause!

But I’m not afraid to say those things to him also but everytime come to this situation, my reactions were just so amazing. Applause!! Applause!!! To you and I being so calm and brave.

    Hi Donna!

I guess at that time i wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere so more calm la…..but then i was still boiling mad at that guy and the situation.

I am also guilty of double-parking at times but we move our car immediately and either say sorry or wave an apology….but that situation is beyond any reasoning i would say.

and thankyou! thankyou! for the applause to you and me! hahaha

Nancy, haha… Tow away their cars? I think they deserve it lah. But don’t do lah. Haha… Maybe somedays it happen to be my car or someone you know? Kidding!

    nancy said:
if that happened to someone i know, should i then start my ‘long and stern (as if i can be stern la)’ lecture about double-parking and not responding to honking?

i guess what i am trying to say is that people must learn to be more civilised and after 40 minutes under the hot sun and honking, to have their cars towed away is not that cruel la….i think….no i insist. :P hahaha.

Double parking!!! I wish I can hail down the worst wrath of God from heaven and consume these irresponsible and selfish ppl.

I have my share of being block be double parkers, and it’s not that there is no parking space. There are ample parking spaces to park a bus horizontally! These ppl just park at their own convenience.

However, God asked us to love those unlovable ones. Sigh…

    Hi Pastor Mike

    Hehe, nice post aunty!
i personally don’t like double parking but sometimes in areas like ss15 it is a must or you will spend hours rounding and rounding the area. Which i don’t like it when my mother puts me in the car and she goes to the bank. Its always embarassing when the owner of the car wants to move out and i will have to apologize and honk for my mother. But it seems like most people do it in that area. Bad, but its so congested

What were you doing at the pharmacy?

    nancy said:
    thank you young man!

i needed to buy medication as well as bandages for jordan (for his broken little toe).

yes, ss15 is very congested. i can understand the double-parking thing but an apology would suffice not turn the situation around and we the victims become the ones at fault.

welcome back. . .how was your holiday?

  6. Edren says:

Please don’t tow my car please! hehe.. i would sometime practices double parking as well if the situation really forces me to do so.. but, definitely will be leaving either my name card or someone in car in case they were needed… :P

    nancy said:
    hi edren

i understand that most drivers have double-parked before, but i think if the situation repeats, without the name card left on the dashboard, i will actually call the authorities to tow the car if i have the authorities’ phone numbers and if i have been pressing my horn for more than 30minutes. 30 minutes is a long enough time for anyone double-parking to move their car…dont you agree?

Hi aunty nancy !! Nice post….cool one…haha nice of what you thought of writing about…coz yes I also cannot stand ppl double parking, and I’m not even driving yet. I really cannot stand it when ppl double park…I don’t think I can be as patient as you…..although I’m an introvert but somehow when I do get mad or agitated by something like this I think I will scold the person …Haha so look out !! They may meet an angry horse :-) hahahaha

    nancy said:
    hi sarah

actually the post was supposed to be about the little testimony but ended up with the double parking thing….hahaha. Its actually about a year or so now but whenever i recall the incident, i still feel that guy was just so ridiculous. I guess some characters just stick in our mind for a long time.

and yes, they must meet an angry horse :P … hahaha…sorry folks, this is a private joke!
