Just a little request

   Posted by: WhiRL   in Discussion

Dear readers,

I’m pleased to announce to you that this blog has reached it’s half a year mark! Wooohoo. I can’t believe it has been that long. Over this period of time I’m glad to say that I’m so happy that you all have been there to read, support and encourage me to write more and more. Though the opposite seems to be happening hahaha

So here I am ready to give you some statistics about this blog:

Firstly, over this 6 months, I have had 25,761 visits to this blog (as of the time I wrote this blog)! Wooohoo isn’t that great. Averagely there are 222 visits a day. Pretty amazing. Now this doesn’t mean you should visit this blog less ok?…..visit it more hehehe

As of this month I have 15.7 percent of my readers from my homeland Malaysia!!! 13.41percent from the Netherlands. 7.94 percent from US commercial, 7.63 from Singapore and the rest from many other countries.

I have written 105 posts. With contributions as well.  Wow I can’t believe I wrote so much. I have also received a total of 774 comments. Thank you all again!

This has been above and beyond what I imagined blogging to be like. I did this to begin with just wanting to stay in touch with the people I care about. And here I am at this point. I also know that these statistics are nothing compared to other websites but I am so glad and encouraged that people would find something they can relate to in my blog.

There is just a little request though. I just saw my spam statistics and currently there are a total of 764 spam comments. I was like….whoa how can the spam be so close to the real comments. It has recently rapidly rose in quantity and the comments on my blog has rapidly declined also hahaha. So can you readers give feedback on what I can do to help you comment more? Also can you all just comment more. I would love to always be able to say that my blog has more comments that spam. Haha.

I just thought I’d share these statistics to you guys to really thank the people who visit this blog regularly. when I read them I was really encouraged. I hope to do better and better so please give me your input. Still I can only do what’s within my power and energy and time to encourage you too.

I am curious though….why do you all read this blog? Can share please?

p.s - I have been reading many of your blogs too. Enjoy them very much. Just didn’t have the time to comment. Soon, very soon I will be able to do that again. Cheers!

Update: The spam box has just beaten the comments box. 777-776. Very sad. very sad

Have you seen this? - Tan Hong Ming

What do you think? I don’t watch TV much so only when it came out in the news did I look for it. Cute? Moving? Mind-boggling? Controversial?

How do you feel as a Malaysian after seeing this? What do you think is the message of this video?

Shout to the Lord on American Idol

Posted by: WhiRL   in Colors of Life, Discussion

You know what? How many of you are fans of that show? I am not a fan of that show but I have been following it closely this season closely. I was so looking forward to watch Idol gives back. But something struck me hard. I have been crying these two days. One of which I will talk about in the other post.

I cried when I thought about when they sang the song Shout to the Lord on American idol. Some of you who know I’m a very sentimental person would think that I was touched thats why I cried. You are far off. I cried because it hurt to see them sing it. It is a song for God only God!

There are ample debates about whether this glorifies God or not and I do not want to dwell on that. For me God takes glory in everything. I mean EVERYTHING. If we look hard enough we can find something to glorify God in everything even this.

But I cried profusely, asking God is this what He wants with our lives. Sure idol gives back gives millions that I could never ever give in my lifetime. But is that what He wants? No. The bible clearly says that He asks for our lives. Pastor Everett Mckinney preached a message that was very convicting on sunday. He has spent 46 years in ministry and more that 30 years in missions. The title of the message was ‘He gave all He had”. Never once did he mention in his message about money. It’s all about lives surrendered to God. So I surrender mine. Lord I make this public confession that I will give all I have.

So I cried because I see a song sung, but not lives lived. The rocks already praise God the creator. So please I think when God asks us to give praise is not with just singing and the clapping of hands. Sometimes I think the rocks can sing louder than us. Ironic. Certainly not! Think carefully of what I’m saying. I am surely stepping on some toes when I say all these things.

I think the song that Pastor Mckinney sings is a song sweeter and louder to God’s ear as it is the song of his life, not the song on American Idol. Lord take glory in the lives we live not the songs we sing.

Please read the comments to understand more what I’m trying to say

Also there is another discussion I am part of about this matter in another blog and it may be interesting for you to read other opinions. Here it is

What is this thing called love?

   Posted by: WhiRL   in Discussion

first-love.jpeg

Have you ever fell in love? I have…in fact I believe I didn’t just fall in love but truly loved. Yet no matter how I see it, I still question. What is this thing called love?

In my humble opinion, we live in a generation that has a warped up idea of love. We have limited the definition of love until it becomes nothing more than a feeling of attraction. Romance dominates every single movie you see. Without it the movie will be a flop.

Love in fact is a universal language that everyone supposedly knows about. If love was taken away from life, there is no life. So then why is love such an important part of our life yet we hardly know or want to know what love is?

So what is this thing called LOVE? I honestly would like to hear from other people’s perspective on what love is.

I believe love is a deliberate choice. It is not based on feelings nor emotions but a choice to love someone for just who they are. I could never ask my parents not to love me. They have chosen to and will love me.

Of course I could write a whole paper on this. But what is love to you? We hear statements being thrown around such as ‘you don’t love me anymore’ or ‘you don’t know what love is’ or even ‘ I don’t love you anymore’. Can we actually define what true love is? I believe we can.

So dear friends,

Maybe you can answer it this way….the first section answer what you think is not love or is commonly misinterpreted as love.

The second section.. write what love really is.

Please contribute….I believe this can develop into something really interesting. You may ask why I suddenly raise this question? Maybe I’m just struggling to find out and answer to this question so much.

What does the future hold?

   Posted by: WhiRL   in Discussion

My dear friends, these few days have been chaotic for me. Rushing here, Rushing there and in the end making it just on time to place my vote. Phew!!!

I stayed awake until 330am trying to see the results as much as I could but knocked out because I had important matters the next day. Wait a minute….its the same day….Sunday…

The results were very provocative to me personally. Some things I really wish didn’t happen happened. But I am happy that our country Malaysia is about to experience change.

What do you think the future holds? Please share your thoughts.

I personally think if the leaders learn from this lesson, Malaysia will have a bright future. Personally I believe there is a ray of hope because of these results and a clear message of the people’s feelings which should have been heard a long time ago (but fell on deaf ears before this).

I have positive feelings about this. I want this all to turn to something good. Am I being too optimistic?

But the biggest lesson I learnt is that I love this country so so much. What would I like to see in the future?
