Found in You

I have finally learnt how to stream the songs! Hallelujah! It was so tough trying to understand it but now. It is done!

This is a demo of the song we’ve done in the studio some weeks back. We’ve introduced it to the congregation last week. I’m leading it this week. What do you think of the song? Please please please share your comments. We need to gather your feedback as we’re deciding which songs to put into our album that we’re working on.

How did this song come to life?

Pastor’s inspired song was kept shelved for years. The project in which this song was supposed to be part of got shelved because of various reasons. When I came here, this was what I was assigned to do. Revive this project. We are naming it ‘Everlasting Project’! The joke is that this project was everlasting and never would be finished.

My understanding would be that this project will be everlasting and will continue to glorify God for the longest time! Amen?

So I was given 10 songs….the first one I worked on was this one. I was inspired to change the feel of the song. Bringing slightly slower and give it a more modern ballad feel. I’m wondering now if i should post up the old version for you all to hear the difference…..nah….hahaha. I’m so glad my boss allowed me to change his song slightly. Also he allowed me to post this up. I’m so honored.

I also changed the song to have two keys. The verse and the chorus being different keys to raise the feeling and mood of the song to focus on God.

Here are the lyrics of the song for your reference:

Verse:
No greater beauty I’ll ever see
No deeper wisdom can ever be
No Peace of mind I’ll ever find
Than what I’ve found in you

Verse (cont’d):
*No ocean wider than Your open arms
No mountain higher than Your mercy
No place on earth has purer love
Than what I’ve found in you

Chorus:
In You there’s hope for the hopeless
In You rest forevermore
In You there’s faith and forgiveness
Healing for sickness in You

Chorus (cont’d)
In You, in You
There’s strength for tomorrow
In You joy for our sorrow
In You unmerited favour in Jesus our Saviour
And that’s what I’ve found in

Song Composer : Lee Meng Cham

Singer :  *blush* me. So it is not so nice ok?  heehehe

You are the singer so not so nice?…hmmmm

    Leon said:

    Yes I think so hahahaha

  3. Karl says:

Liked the song as the whole.

No offence, the vocals are a little “draggy”. It’s not in your singing range, I understand.
    Haha…

I’m know I’m in no position to comment, but hear me out, just take it as suggestions.

The first part where the drums came in with a sort-of R&B beat, the variations gave me sort of a “too-much” feeling. If you can give a simpler touch, I think it’ll sound better. Just my opinion. Like how the 2nd part of the drums came in, that would be just enough.

Ever thought of further building the song up?
Giving space for the instruments to produce a tighter feel? Some occasional emphasis maybe? (might end up being too fancy…haha…)

Yeah, so just my thoughts. Nice song overall, great lyrics with a good feel of music combined. Great job! Keep up the good work!

Haha Karl you’re listening to the arrangement and not the song. The arrangement is not even fixed. We are just doing this as to assist the musicians have a feel of the song. Overall this is not even close to what we want to release. It is the song that we want to see if people can relate to and worship with

Sorry for the lack of details in the entire arrangement and mix. We just worked on presenting something presentable. haha does that make sense?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Suanne! I surely would like to meet you one day. I’m surprised that you found my blog. I’m even more surprised that you like the song. Not that the song is bad or anything haha. It’s just a pleasant surprise sort of thing. I have informed Ps Meng Cham that you love it. About the other version…..I didn’t ask permission to post it so cannot. Hehe. Listen up for more and tell us your feedback ok? Thanks

  5. Adino says:

    *clap clap clap* nicely done!

I would have preferred to start the song like how you ended it… with the acoustic strumming and the guitar playing a solo to build the ‘atmosphere’.

    Leon said:

Thank you thank you! Ok will note your comment. But like I told Karl this is not the version we will release. This is just a demo. It is the song I hope people like

  6. ensl says:

good job.. i think it’s a great composition overall..

    just a few humble opinions…
i think the song started off with a peaceful feel.. the sudden change of drum beat from the 5th line (cont of first verse) makes the song mood change too suddenly.. i dont really know how to explain it in proper terms.. just feel that within 1 verse (since you said it’s continue so i assume it’s 1 verse), it’s too sudden and too drastic change from peaceful starting to totally different feel.. u know what i mean ar?

but anyway, a great composition. good job!

    Leon said:

Thanks so much. I guess there is two different camps now. Some wanting a more peaceful feel and some wanting a more driving feel to this song. Interesting. I don’t know how it will turn out. We have sung in in our congregation. Each band has brought a different feel. Praying on how it will turn out. Pray with us

  7. Jenlene says:

Great Job! in the recording and changing to a modern feel…

To be honest, this is one of the songs that are more receptive to the audience of all ages…

Hey.. so when are you going to post the song that you wrote? :P

    Leon said:

Haha I am afraid to post that one up just yet. This week perhaps……

  11. Jason Tong says:

Dude, your vocals have REALLY improved since Sedaya days. The song is great, the key change going into the chorus is brilliantly refreshing!

    Leon said:

Thanks for the kind comments. I must have been bad during sedaya days hahahaa. Yeah the key change transformed the song. It was not composed that way. Good to know it does good.

  12. Gideon says:
