Have you seen this? – Tan Hong Ming

What do you think? I don’t watch TV much so only when it came out in the news did I look for it. Cute? Moving? Mind-boggling? Controversial?

How do you feel as a Malaysian after seeing this? What do you think is the message of this video?

I have never seen this before…Did it come out on TV ? Anyway i think the message the video is trying to portray is that there is no boundary in relationships. That although race differs but it shouldn’t be seen as a problem . That two ppl from different races also can be in a relationship ? or can like each other ?
I think it all boils down to Malaysian’s trying to have ” semangat perpaduan ” among races.
I think the video is a bit controversial as when it comes to different races being in a relationship there will always be the problem of religion standing in between ….and I think the reason kids were used for this video is so that it comes across as cute so as to not offend anyone. Well of course this is just my opinion….Maybe i would like to have some input from you and yr other readers as well :-)
And maybe i’ll comment more when I watch it again or when i think about it more. Coz sometimes I can’t spot things just like that. Have to watch it a few times .

But isn’t the video’s point that as we grow older we make things overly complicated?

yea seen it before. i think my opinion is the same as sarah’s, the message they’re trying to convey is that M’sia is a multi-racial country and there are no boundaries in inter-racial r’ships. but for christians, religion and not race may be the issue… other countries don’t have such law on automatically born into a religion or compulsory converting if you marry.. i don’t know why there’s such a law here.. sorry out of topic.

It gets you to think lor, can it be as simple as that? No boundaries….can it?

But the truth is, its never going to be that simple right??? It might be simple for some…. But not for me………. But then again………………………………… Wish i could change the world……

I wish I can do a sequel to this. Here’s the plot:

Scene 1: shows that the two of them grown up and meet up with each other in a beautiful garden

Scene 2: Tan Hong Ming confesses that he still loves Umi in a romantic way. Over a starry night, perhaps

Scene 3: Tan Hong Ming goes to her hse to tell her mother about their love and wanna marry her in a Chinese way

Scene 4: Sadly, Tan hong Ming is rejected cause he need to “masuk Islam” and marry the Islam way ONLY to marry her.

Final Scene 5: This sentence ends the video clip: “Kanak-kanak betul-betul memahaminya?”

    Maybe…..Kanak-kanak akan betul-betul memahaminya

Hmm well thats hard to say…I think it is possible and yeah i think as we do get older we’re much more influenced easily into our surroundings. But anyway I’m still trying to digest the video….but i still believe in what i commented lo :-)
