Song Writing II

   Posted by: WhiRL   in Music

Step 3:

I would then proceed with the lyrics of the song. My reason for this is because the lyrics of the song is very important in directing how the song is supposed to be like. What kind of style and so on so forth. Just like I said before, the creative process varies for each individual.

For the lyrics process you need to decide who your audience is. Adults,Youth, Children, Mothers, Lovers and etc…..

Then you will be able to choose the level of vocabulary you use, or the level of poetic aspects that can be applied to the lyrics.

Lyrics is an art by itself and there are people who are just lyricists because lyricst has to be really concise and meaningful and not everyone can do that.

The audience I will be trying to write the wedding song to is Cambodians. Their mastery of the english laguage is definately not on par with college standards. Most of the time probably they have a competency level of primary school level here.

So I wrote the lyrics as simple as I can. This was absoulutely diffcult because I really wanted certain meanings in the song. So here it is. Would really appreciate the comments.

The Beauty of it All

Verse 1

It’s simply amazing
Even more surprising
How God makes one of two
Two hearts beat as one
As we exchange our vows
That we’ll commit our lives forever

You walk down the aisle
And I stand amazed
At the bride that’s prepared, so beautiful and pure

Chorus:
The wonder of it all is how I look at You
And You look at me and see something good
God makes two as one depicting His Love
He brought our lives together, today
And that’s the Beauty of it All

Verse 2

God made this all happen
Through His marvellous love
And that’s why we’re standing here
This is my vow to you that
I’ll love you with all of my heart
As you love with all of yours too

You came in my life
And I am changed
By how God has done so much for me

Bridge

Let what God put together
No one tear apart
We’ll declare His great love
Cause we’re one

p.s. The upload of the hook will be coming soon. Can’t carry my keyboard on my bike (its in church)…hehehe

sure that is no problem. But some people struggle to fit words into a melody and vice versa. When you do the melody first, you will have to fit the words into the melody which is a limitation. I find that writing the lyrics first gives me more flexibility to choose rather than limit me.

second thing you have to realise is that a melody is harder to modify but words are easier to change. So i prefer to edit the lyrics if they dont fit the melody rather then the opposite.

yea true also… agree.. though my lyrics and melody always doesnt seem to compliment each other.. the lyrics will end up as a poem and the melody will end up as a instrumental by itself hahaha..

so if someone sends you lyrics you can compose the melody from there? thats so cool.. ^^
